SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Typhoon Haishen brought heavy rains and strong winds to southern Japan on Sunday as the powerful storm approached the island of Kyushu.
Due to the storm, 557 flights were cancelled on Sunday, and most train services were temporarily suspended.
About 1.67 million residents of Kyushu island, including 730,000 from the city of Kumamoto, must leave their homes, NHK television reported. Meteorologists warned of floods, strong winds, heavy rainfall, and storm surges.

Haishen, the second typhoon to hit southern Japan this week, could be a record-breaking storm, the Japan Meteorological Agency announced.
Up to 600 millimeters of rain is expected in Kyushu, and up to 400 millimeters in southwestern Shikoku and the Tokai region by Monday noon, the Meteorological Agency announced.
