Reduced Air Pollution: Warning and Alert Episodes Lifted

In accordance with Chapter III, point 4, of the Plan of Emergency Measures in Cases of Excessive Air Pollution in Sarajevo Canton, the Minister of Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of Sarajevo Canton, Čedomir Lukić, acting as President of the Operational Staff, issued an Order to lift the second episode of “Warning” and the first episode of “Alert” regarding increased concentrations of pollutants in the air for Sarajevo Canton, Patria reports.

- The reasons for issuing this order are the facts that, through automatic air quality monitoring stations, a decrease in the values of particulate matter in the air – PM10 was recorded during yesterday and today, and that the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute in Sarajevo Canton has forecast unstable weather conditions in the Sarajevo basin.

During yesterday, automatic air quality monitoring stations recorded: at Vijećnica an average daily PM10 value of 32 µg/m³, at Ilidža 72 µg/m³, at Otoka 31 µg/m³, and at Bjelave 49 µg/m³, while today at the automatic stations at Vijećnica measured values of 17 µg/m³, at Ilidža 15 µg/m³, at Otoka 13 µg/m³, and at Bjelave 22 µg/m³.

The expert body for coordination and supervision continues to continuously monitor weather conditions and concentrations of pollutants in the air, and will act in accordance with the provisions of the Plan of Emergency Measures depending on the development of the situation.
