Smajić: Let Konaković submit signatures of leaders of pro-Bosniak parties to commit to overturning the Law if it passes the House of Peoples

(Patria) - Delegate in the Bosniak Caucus Džemal Smajić (SBiH) commented on the situation in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament, emphasizing that after eight months of hard struggle and pressure, the issue of the Law on the Constitutional Court has come into public focus.

"I want to emphasize once again that the proposed Law is unconstitutional and directly attacks the very core of the constitutional and legal order of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In order to stop the further collapse of BiH and all democratic and European values, my colleagues and I were forced to use the only option and not attend the session of the House of Peoples. Although we are well aware of the decision-making mechanisms, and despite the fact that I myself have publicly warned that we do not have firm promises that the Law will be rejected in the further procedure, no one, not even the ruling Troika, has come out with guarantees that they will stop the destruction of the Constitutional Court!

Therefore, it gives me particular pleasure that Konaković, who has been undermining the dignity of both Bosnia and Herzegovina and its citizens, has remembered after more than half a year that he has "some problem" in the House of Peoples. All this time, Konaković has been the president of NiP and part of the ruling structure, but it did not occur to him to comment on this issue. That kind of passivity is understandable, because the complexity of the decision-making procedure exceeds his political capacities," stated Smajić.

Smajić also commented on the situation where Konaković criticizes Kemal Ademović, the first deputy president of NIP, for supporting the decision of the Bosniak Caucus.

"The very fact that he publicly criticizes his party colleague Kemal Ademović for standing on the right side with us from the Bosniak Caucus, shows that he has not even tried to find a solution with him so far. Because if he had, he would not have publicly admitted that he still does not have a strategy on this issue, but publicly says that he will only develop one.
Because the main megaphone of the Troika has no strategy, even though he is part of the government and should have one, I call on him to submit the signatures of parliamentarians in the House of Representatives, or at least the leaders of pro-Bosniak parties, in which they publicly commit to overturning the Law if it passes the House of Peoples. In that case, he will have my support, and I hope the support of other colleagues. Why am I asking for this? Because in the same way that Konaković is naive, the SDP was also naive a few years ago when they allowed themselves to be deceived and voted for the disastrous Law on Residence.
Given that this issue is more than serious when it comes to the survival of the state and the building of democratic European institutions, we expect the democratic world to support us," concluded Smajić.
