(Patria) - Officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) of BiH have completed training on systems for detecting sources of radioactive materials using mobile vans.
The training was conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA), and the Nuclear Smuggling Detection and Deterrence Office (NSDD).
The training was carried out from March to June 2024 and was held in four regional centers - Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar, and Tuzla.
The training involved officers from the Enforcement Sector, the Anti-Smuggling Group, and the Customs Sector, who work at border crossings and customs offices.
The instructors for this training were certified trainers on behalf of the ITA, who worked under the supervision of officers from the NSDD in Slovenia.
The training included theoretical and practical work, during which ITA officers acquired new knowledge and skills that they will use in further work with this type of equipment.
During the training, participants had the opportunity to take part in practical exercises, with continuous discussion, comments, and questions directed to the instructors.
The ITA thanks the representatives of the NSDD Program for their continuous support and trust, as well as for the donated specialized equipment, all with the aim of more effectively combating the abuse of imports into BiH of goods with an impermissible level of radioactive radiation.
