Service for Foreigners Affairs removed 36 migrants from the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Service for Foreigners Affairs is conducting intensified activities of control and movement of foreigners in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in the area of Una-Sana, Sarajevo and Central Bosnia Cantons.

In the area of Travnik municipality, Service officials, with the assistance of police officers of the MUP of SBK/KSB, are conducting intensified operational activities, i.e., control of facilities where migrants are staying, with the aim of determining the legality and control of migrant movement, and 34 migrants who were the subject of the Service's work were found.

Also, the Service for Foreigners Affairs, after the completed readmission procedure, removed 36 foreign nationals who were illegally staying in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. These individuals were previously issued measures of expulsion and placed under supervision in the Immigration Center. Among the removed individuals are 15 citizens of Pakistan, eight citizens of Bangladesh, two citizens of Afghanistan, and 11 citizens of Turkey. Eight citizens of Turkey were returned to the Republic of Turkey, while the remaining individuals, given that it was determined in the procedure that they had previously resided in the territory of the Republic of Serbia, were returned to the Republic of Serbia in accordance with the provisions of the Readmission Agreement.

During the month of August, 2297 individuals were the subject of the Service's work, of which 2226 expressed their intention to apply for asylum. As a result of intensified activities, the Service issued 71 expulsion measures during August. Currently, 6594 migrants are staying in temporary reception centers.

In the past seven days alone, 680 migrants were the subject of the Service's work, of which 545 expressed their intention to apply for asylum. In the same period, the Service for Foreigners Affairs issued expulsion measures from the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina with a ban on entry and stay for 35 individuals, of whom 14 are citizens of Bangladesh, 3 citizens of Pakistan, 13 citizens of Turkey, one citizen of Morocco, two citizens of Serbia, and two citizens of Afghanistan. The aforementioned individuals were placed under supervision in the Immigration Center until their removal from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Service for Foreigners Affairs, in accordance with its competencies and capacities, will continue to continuously conduct intensified operational activities in response to the increased inflow of migrants in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
