Trnka and Hatibović case in final phase

The case of Salem Hatibović (born 1959) and Nihad Trnka (born 1992), suspected of setting fire to the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina building during the protests on 7 February, is in its final phase. This was confirmed to the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP) by Boris Grubešić, spokesperson for the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He could not comment on whether Trnka and Hatibović will be charged with terrorism and attempted coup d'état, as previously announced.

We recall that as part of the investigation conducted by the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with the Federal Police Administration and other police agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the suspects Hatibović and Trnka were identified as individuals who set fire to the building of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Archives of Bosnia and Herzegovina, vehicles and surrounding facilities, causing great damage to these institutions and destroying significant archival material from the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

However, as previously confirmed to the Patria agency by lawyer Senad Bilić, who represents Hatibović, the indictment will most likely be amended and his client will not be charged with terrorism, and the case will be transferred to lower judicial instances.

Trnka and Hatibović have been released from custody but have been ordered measures prohibiting them from leaving their place of residence.
