Case 'Dženan Memić': Testimony of Muriz Memić Continues at the Court of BiH

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The trial of Zijad Mutap, Alisa Mutap-Ramić, Hasan Dupovac, Josip Barić and Muamer Ožegović will continue today at the Court of BiH after a two-month break.

The last trial was held on October 14, when Muriz Memić, the father of the murdered young man Dženan Memić whose death has remained unsolved for nearly six years, was examined as the first witness of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH. At the previous hearing, Memić was examined by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, and today he will be cross-examined by the defenses of the accused.

Dženan Memić sustained head injuries on the night of February 8, 2016, while in the company of Alisa Mutap on Velika aleja in Ilidža under still unresolved circumstances, and died at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo (KCUS) seven days later.

Although the Prosecutor's Office of the Sarajevo Canton filed an indictment for a traffic accident, and although it changed the qualification from murder to a traffic accident, during the court proceedings they failed to prove that Memić was hit by a vehicle.

The Supreme Court of the Federation of BiH upheld the acquittal of Ljubo and Bekrija Seferović, while the Prosecutor's Office of BiH simultaneously conducted an investigation into organized crime.

The Court of BiH confirmed on August 5 the indictment against Zijad Mutap for the criminal offense of organized crime under Article 342, Paragraph 3, in conjunction with the criminal offenses of illegal mediation under Article 382, Paragraph 2, aiding an offender after the commission of a criminal offense under Article 346, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CC FBiH), and obstruction of evidence under Article 349, Paragraph 1 of the CC FBiH; Alisa Ramić, formerly Mutap, for the criminal offense of organized crime under Article 342, Paragraph 2, in conjunction with the criminal offense of aiding an offender after the commission of a criminal offense under Article 346, Paragraph 2 of the CC FBiH, the criminal offense of obstruction of evidence under Article 349, Paragraph 1 of the CC FBiH, and the criminal offense of giving false testimony under Article 348, Paragraph 3, in conjunction with Paragraph 1 of the CC FBiH; Hasan Dupovac for the criminal offense of organized crime under Article 342, Paragraph 2, in conjunction with the criminal offenses of illegal mediation under Article 382, Paragraph 2 and aiding an offender after the commission of a criminal offense under Article 346, Paragraph 2 of the CC FBiH; Josip Barić for the criminal offense of organized crime under Article 342, Paragraph 2, in conjunction with the criminal offenses of illegal mediation under Article 382, Paragraph 2 and aiding an offender after the commission of a criminal offense under Article 346, Paragraph 2 of the CC FBiH; and Muamer Ožegović for the criminal offense of organized crime under Article 342, Paragraph 2, in conjunction with the criminal offense of aiding an offender after the commission of a criminal offense under Article 346, Paragraph 2 of the CC FBiH.

The indictment states, among other things, that the accused Zijad Mutap organized a group for organized crime with the aim of concealing evidence about the manner in which Dženan Memić sustained life-threatening serious bodily injuries on February 8, 2016, as a result of which he died, and that the accused Hasan Dupovac, Alisa Ramić, Josip Barić and Muamer Ožegović joined this group as members, and by concealing evidence and the perpetrator, fabricating evidence, and concealing facts known to them, they undertook actions aimed at concealing the actual manner in which Dženan Memić sustained life-threatening serious bodily injuries.
