Agrokor Case: Protecting Employees and Suppliers

The Federal Government today accepted information on activities related to Agrokor group companies based in the Federation of BiH and tasked the General Secretariat of the FBiH Government to prepare an analysis of possible legal solutions for enhanced supervision and measures aimed at protecting suppliers and employees, in accordance with the Government's competencies, and to prepare a proposal for legal solutions as soon as possible, reports Patria News Agency.

The FBiH Government has been continuously monitoring activities related to the crisis in the Agrokor group for several months, aiming to minimize risks to the economy of the Federation of BiH, especially considering the systemic risk related to suppliers and employees.

Intensive monitoring has been practically ongoing since the beginning of the second quarter of 2017, and a series of meetings have been held with stakeholders: representatives of Agrokor Croatia and the Government of the Republic of Croatia, directors of companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina that are part of the Agrokor group, as well as representatives of the Trade Union, the Chamber of Commerce, the Employers' Association, and the Assembly of Konzum Suppliers.

Particularly vulnerable categories are suppliers and employees, and in this regard, compliance with regulations must be ensured, so that payments are made in accordance with the Law on Financial Operations, and the optimization of the number of employees in accordance with the Labor Law.

Given the size of the group and the systemic risk to the Federation of BiH, it is necessary to consider protection measures, within the competencies of the Government of the Federation of BiH, which would enhance supervision over the implementation of stabilization activities of the group's members, in accordance with the solutions in force in neighboring countries.
