Slovo Gorčina in a New Guise

This year's Slovo Gorčina event, held in Stolac since 1971, begins on August 4, 2017, with an official opening in the City Park, reports Patria News Agency.

Unlike previous years, this year's event offers a rich and diverse program that will last for seven days, until August 11, 2017. In seven days, Stolac will host many artists, as well as scientists and lovers of the written word. Thus, after the opening, at 8:00 PM in the garden of Gradska kafana, Zijah Sokolović will perform his monodrama.

Saturday's program is dedicated to marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of the poet Mak Dizdar, to whom this event is dedicated. In addition to the promotion of the latest edition of Kamenog spavača and the exhibition "Mak Dizdar the First 100 Years" (prepared by the Mak Dizdar Foundation and the Museum of Literature and Theater Arts), a recital of Mak's poetry performed by actress Hasija Borić will be held at Radimlja. Sunday morning is dedicated to another great son of Stolac – Alija Isaković.

On the occasion of his 85th birthday and the 20th anniversary of his death, a round table will be held on his life and work. In addition, Sunday will feature an evening of poetry by guest poet Hadžem Hajdarević.

Monday is reserved for the promotion of the book Faulkner and Selimović Were Here, by author Selma Raljević, and visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy an exhibition of paintings by guest painter Džeko Hodžić. The program on Monday concludes with a concert by the band Divanhana.

On Tuesday, the book Koščice by Amila Kahrović-Posavljak (last year's winner of the Mak Dizdar award) will be promoted, followed by an evening of poetry by another guest poet – Goran Simić.

On Wednesday, the audience will be presented with the poetry collection Mostarska zbirka by Almin Kaplan, and the program will conclude with a concert by Kablovi – the only press rock band in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On Thursday, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy the exhibition Facsimiles of Medieval Bosnian Literature prepared by the Museum of Herzegovina and the promotion of the book Okus šandude by Šefik Rizvanović.

The event program concludes on Friday with the play Fatima, Bride of Pain by Mostar's MTM, and the event will be closed with a concert by Mostar's band Walter Acoustic Orchestar.

In every respect, visitors can expect a diverse and rich program tailored to all ages and different tastes.
