Slovenia: Sanctions on Dodik Divide Government!

(Patria) - The Government of the Republic of Slovenia is expected to adopt a decision on Friday, September 5th of this year, to impose sanctions on Milorad Dodik, the dismissed president of the RS entity.

Sanctions are also expected to be imposed on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

BUT!

As Politicki.ba has learned, there is no consensus within the Slovenian Government on this decision.

The government is composed of Robert Golob's Freedom Movement, which is the prime minister, the Left party, and the Social Democrats. Well, the latter are - to put it mildly - reserved!

"It is possible that the decision will even be postponed, although that is currently unlikely. But it is becoming increasingly clear that the intention to sanction Dodik will not pass so easily.

Why?

Due to the financial interests of individuals.

The money that Dodik has pumped into Slovenia is enormous. But he is not alone. We have more and more tycoons from Serbia here. They are buying everything. And it is known that they are the forerunners of Russian tycoons," a source told us, speaking to Politicki.ba on condition of anonymity.

It is precisely this pumping of Serbian money into Slovenia that has set off alarms in Slovenia's security services.

At their request, last week the Slovenian Government considered the initiative to impose sanctions on Dodik. And Netanyahu.

"The Prime Minister of Israel is 'decoration' here. And there are no disputes about whether he should be sanctioned by Slovenia.

Dodik is a different story.

The amounts of money he has invested in Slovenia are such that it has simply contaminated the country's political scene. And not only when it comes to the right wing, but increasingly parties to the left of center," our sources say.

They also report that Slovenia's security services are very nervous.

"It is known that Dodik has a villa in Portorož. No one disputes that anymore. And there is a local airport there that usually lacks police surveillance. And it's not hard to imagine what opportunities for manipulation that opens up," says one of Politicki.ba's sources.

Dodik is not the only one, but he is the most prominent Serbian investor in Slovenia.

And there are not only political and tycoon investments.

For Slovenia's security services, everything began at the end of November last year when Satko Zovko, a former member of the "Škaljarski clan" and now a cooperating witness, was murdered in the middle of Ljubljana.

Questions about the role and influence of narco-clans on the overall, and especially political, life of Slovenia began to surface in the public at that time.

The investigations launched have led to a "red hot" situation in Slovenia's intelligence services.

"It has long been known that the right wing is compromised by Serbian money. Now, insights into the 'infection' of Social Democrats with Serbian money are increasingly coming to light," Politicki.ba's sources further report.

The Slovenian public is now preoccupied with the numerous revelations by journalists and law enforcement agencies.

Thus, the information that the capital city - Ljubljana - has not owned its own utility company for a long time was received with shock.

The owner, since 2015, is a man from Banja Luka!

"If our garbage has to be taken out by someone else, what are we capable of?" asks one of Politicki.ba's sources.

The imposition of sanctions on Dodik, therefore, is just the tip of the iceberg.

As things stand, Robert Golob's government will make a decision on Friday.

To make the decision as "solid" as possible, the freezing of assets of those sanctioned has been abandoned at this moment.

Instead, Dodik and his adult family members will be banned from entering Slovenia. And they will be the first to whom Slovenia has imposed such a measure in its history.
