Slovenia initiates procedure for VAT refund to BiH carriers

(Patria) - The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Slovenia has responded to the initiative of the Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH, Srđan Amidžić, to establish reciprocity in VAT refunds for BiH carriers.

In an official letter, which arrived at Minister Amidžić's address, Slovenia confirms that it will initiate a procedure to determine whether the conditions for reciprocity have been met.

After official confirmation, BiH carriers will soon be able to exercise their right to a VAT refund in Slovenia.

"The Republic of Slovenia will officially inform the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of Bosnia and Herzegovina that it confirms the fulfillment of reciprocity conditions and will determine the date from which reciprocity will be applied.

From that date, taxpayers registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina will have the right to claim a refund of VAT paid in Slovenia," stated the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Slovenia.

This represents a key step in protecting the rights of BiH carriers and opens the way for achieving equal treatment in VAT refunds in EU countries.

We remind you that Amidžić's initiative followed because the Minister of Communications and Transport of BiH, Edin Forto, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elmedin Konaković, did not take the necessary steps to protect the interests of BiH carriers.

Similar responses are expected soon from other countries to which Amidžić sent letters - Greece, Spain, Hungary, Italy, and Poland - so that BiH carriers have equal opportunities for VAT refunds in EU countries.
