Slovenians Selling Healing Air from Beehives

Beekeepers from Slovenia have turned to a new type of commercialization of apiaries – beekeeping tourism, which is much more profitable and certain than the classic production and sale of honey, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria. Slovenian beekeepers offer honey massages, beekeeping lessons, various dishes made from bee products, and much more.

However, it seems that tourists are most interested in Slovenian „api chambers“, i.e., houses where tourists sit and breathe air from beehives. Although it may seem completely pointless, it is not so. The healing properties of air from beehives are multiple, and with the help of this therapy, it is possible to treat even severe respiratory system diseases. The healing power of air from beehives has been confirmed by many scientific studies conducted in recent years at numerous universities around the world.

Api chambers are, in fact, wooden houses or huts, whose walls are made of beehives with bees. The inner side of the beehive, the one facing the room, is open and separated only by a thin mesh so that the bees cannot leave the hive.

Slovenians charge for staying in such an „api chamber“ depending on how long the tourist wants to spend in it, and for half an hour to 45 minutes, it usually costs around 10 euros.

Tone Tome, a well-known Slovenian apitherapist, says he spends about half an hour daily in the „api chamber“ and that it helps him keep multiple sclerosis, one of the most severe diseases of today, under control for several years.

- Every day I spend several hours in my apiary. I let the bees sting my body, and then I go and lie down in my „api chamber“. After that, I feel good – claims Tome.

- Many years ago, doctors diagnosed me with this disease, but thanks to the bees, I feel almost no consequences from this illness – he says, writes Patria.
