Next week closing arguments in the case against Goran Zubac

Goran Zubac, director of the State Agency for Investigation and Protection, has been in the dock before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for months, after the BiH Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment for negligent work in service, writes the Patria news agency.

We remind you, Zubac is accused of refusing to help the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies when, among others, the building of the BiH Presidency was burning on February 7, 2014.

Closing arguments in this case will be held on February 26 before Judge Mirsad Strika, after witnesses and court experts have been heard.

We remind you that last week the Independent Board of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PSBiH) did not adopt the Proposal for a Report on the work of this Board for 2014, because three members (Bosniaks) were against the adoption of the report, while five members voted for its adoption.

The problem due to which three members did not vote for the report is the case of Goran Zubac, because in that case BiH became the first in the world whose director of a police agency sat on the dock from that position. Namely, according to the law, the Independent Board was obliged to submit to the Council of Ministers a proposal for the dismissal or suspension of Goran Zubac, the director of SIPA, who is accused of negligent work in service when on February 7 last year he refused to provide assistance to the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies when the building of the BiH Presidency was burning.

As Patria learns, the members of the Independent Board stated that the Independent Board was not up to the task, because it did not meet the expectations prescribed by law regarding the jurisdiction of that body.

And now it is clear that the Independent Board was obliged by law to initiate the suspension or dismissal of Goran Zubac before the Council of Ministers.
