Smog and fog disappear on Tuesday, first precipitation and wind follow, by the end of the year we will have a little snow on the ground, and we enter the New Year with temperatures below -10 degrees!

After a series of days spent choking in smog and fog, relief is coming.

An improvement in the flow of upper-level air currents is expected in the lowlands of the Sarajevo basin. On Tuesday morning, a moderate, occasionally strong east and northeast wind will strengthen, with speeds from 4 to 7 m/s, gusts up to 10 m/s, and the first light precipitation will appear. Initially, this could be freezing rain upon contact with the ground, followed by very light snow. All of this will contribute to improving air quality, at least to the extent that it meets the most minimal cleanliness criteria.

We will finally be able to breathe.

Precipitation will not be abundant, as we will only be marginally affected by the cyclone, but due to higher atmospheric pressure in the west and lower in the east, a gradient will be established, and we will have the much-needed wind.

On Wednesday evening, with snow, a snow cover of 2 to 7 cm is expected to form in the central part of the country.

On Thursday, precipitation will stop, followed by clearing, and the wind will weaken. This will be a prelude to a very cold period ahead, with sharp sub-zero temperatures lasting until January 2. Namely, a larger amount of colder air mass will descend from northeastern Europe, lowering temperatures to below-average values for this time of year. According to forecast models, on December 30 and 31, very cold mornings are expected with minimum temperatures as low as -18 degrees in the lowlands of central Bosnia, and up to -22 degrees in the mountains.

On New Year's Eve, the weather will be clear but very cold. In Sarajevo, according to forecast models, temperatures throughout New Year's Eve are expected to range from -11 to as low as -16 degrees.
