NSRS ASSEMBLY Migrant Centers – Real Threat or Political Performance?

(Patria) - The National Assembly of Republika Srpska continues its session today, which in previous days was marked by heated debates, especially regarding the proposed declaration rejecting the initiative of the EU and Great Britain to establish migrant centers in BiH.

The SNSD is seeking a unified stance from all parties from RS against the retention of migrants, while the opposition claims this is a diversion from problems in the economy and public enterprises. Although the opposition also opposes migrant centers, they state they will not support the declaration in its current form.

The course of the debate was also marked by an incident – MP Nebojša Vukanović was removed from the session due to inappropriate behavior.

The President of RS, Milorad Dodik, stated that no Western country has officially requested the deportation of migrants to RS, and that claims about a government plane in Great Britain are "opposition fabrications".

In addition to the declaration, the debate on the budget rebalance has concluded – it now amounts to 6.49 billion KM, an increase of 420 million. Minister Zora Vidović announced new increases in social spending from August, as well as a new rebalance by the end of the year. The opposition criticizes the 40 million KM allocated for international lobbying.

Dodik claims that RS "has never been better off", while the opposition warns of rising living costs and a decline in real purchasing power.

Also on the agenda is the proposed law on the introduction of auxiliary police forces, which the opposition considers potentially harmful, and a citizens' initiative for a moratorium on concessions for geological exploration in Majevica.

Voting on the migrant declaration, as well as other key documents, is expected to follow.
