Assembly of Sarajevo Canton lifts moratorium on employment

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Assembly of Sarajevo Canton is being held today with the presence of 20 deputies due to the coronavirus situation and in compliance with the prescribed measures of the Federal Civil Protection Headquarters. Numerous items on the agenda are being adopted without any votes against.

The Assembly of Sarajevo Canton lifted the ban on employment in the public sector due to the newly emerged situation related to the coronavirus outbreak with 19 votes in favor. In the adopted conclusion, the decision takes effect immediately and includes employment for a fixed and indefinite period in institutions, agencies, institutes, and companies founded by Sarajevo Canton.

Deputy Elmedin Konaković proposed that the moratorium conclusion be lifted due to the need for engaging people in the public sector because of the newly emerged situation. The Chairman of the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton, Mirza Čelik, stated that it was previously agreed at the meeting of the Collegium of the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton that the Government of Sarajevo Canton would draft a conclusion regarding this matter.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, Mario Nenadić, addressed the deputies, stating that the Government of Sarajevo Canton proposes lifting the moratorium due to the alarming situation and the need to fill positions, primarily in the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs. He also proposed that no employment be carried out without prior consent from the Government of Sarajevo Canton.
