KS Assembly Discusses Budget for 2024 in the Amount of 1,530,505,602 KM

(Patria) - The KS Assembly is discussing the Proposal of the Budget of Sarajevo Canton for 2024 at today's session. The budget is proposed in the amount of 1,530,505,602 KM.

KS Prime Minister Nihad Uk said the goal was to adopt the Budget by the end of this year.

"We did not allow revenue reduction to slow us down in improving the quality of life for our citizens. With the budget, we have planned to increase the base for all budget users to 380 KM. We want to mitigate inflation that will persist in 2024 and motivate employees," Uk said.

He spoke about planned projects for the next year, including the digitalization process.

"The commitment of our government is to invest in the capacities of our judicial institutions," Uk said.

Speaking about the increased cost of living, the KS Government decided to increase scholarships for pupils and students, and third-cycle students will also be eligible for scholarships.

In the Proposal of the KS Budget for 2024, the amount allocated for subsidies to young people for housing solutions is 500,000 KM, which is the smallest amount. Minister of Communal Economy Bojan Bošnjak, responding to one of the deputies' questions, said that the criteria for these subsidies would have to be changed and that it is something that cannot be taken for granted. This year, 1142 applicants were eligible for subsidies, but 5.5 million KM was set aside for these purposes, and applicants will receive around 4,800 KM, which is the smallest amount ever.

Prime Minister Uk emphasized that the Budget also plans for the improvement of the healthcare sector in Sarajevo Canton.

"We plan to invest in equipping Health Centers in the coming period, to reconstruct the Vrazova Health Center. The reconstruction of the Emergency Center is also included in the budgets, we are determined to do it in 2024 to adapt the building of the Institute for Emergency Medical Aid," Uk said.

Afan Kalamujić, Minister of Finance of KS, said that attention must be paid to the economic crisis that may occur in 2024.

"My task was to stay within realistic limits. I want all my colleagues in the Government to have the funds to realize all projects. I call on my colleagues to work diligently on the implementation of the proposed projects," he said.
