Canton Sarajevo Assembly supports Konaković: Appoint new members of the KCUS Management Board

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - At today's session of the Canton Sarajevo Assembly, an initiative by the Assembly Speaker Elmedin Konaković was accepted, requesting the Government of the Federation of BiH to urgently comply with the law and other legal regulations concerning the appointment of members of the Management Board of the University Clinical Center Sarajevo (KCUS) and accordingly confirm the proposed candidates from the Sarajevo Canton, who were delegated by the Ministry of Health and the Government of the Canton Sarajevo.

We recall that on August 22, the Government of the Canton Sarajevo made a decision to dismiss Jasmin Kapetanović and Dželaludin Junuzović from the KCUS Management Board and appointed Ismet Gavrankapetanović and Belma Kapo as new members on behalf of the co-founder, the Sarajevo Canton.

The Federal Minister of Health, Vjekoslav Mandić, has never placed this appointment on the agenda of the Government of the Federation of BiH, which is responsible for appointing the KCUS Management Board. In the meantime, the Management Board, led by Jasmin Kapetanović, announced a call for the selection and appointment of the General Director of KCUS. The intention is for the Management Board in this composition to elect a new General Director, which will most likely be Sebija Izetbegović again. According to the Statute, the mandate of the General Director can be renewed, and they are elected for a period of four years.

Konaković earlier told Patria that if Minister Mandić does not comply with the decision of the Government of the Canton Sarajevo, i.e., if the Government of the Federation of BiH does not appoint new members of the Management Board, he will consider and undertake radical measures, including the possibility of stopping the funding of KCUS.
