KS Assembly Adopts Decision on Waiving Tuition Fees for Students Based on Achieved Results

(Patria) - The KS Assembly adopted the Decision on waiving tuition fees for University of Sarajevo (UNSA) students based on achieved results in the 2023/2024 academic year.

"The University of Sarajevo is instructed to exempt regular self-financing UNSA students, who were first enrolled in the 2023/2024 academic year, passed all exams from the same academic year, and are among the top 20% of students with the highest GPA from the 2023/2024 academic year, from tuition fees for continuing their studies when enrolling in the next academic year in 2024/2025.

The 20% threshold from point I is determined by exempting students of the first and second cycle of studies and integrated studies, who pay tuition fees, were first enrolled in the current academic year, passed all exams from the current academic year, and are among the top 20% of students with the highest GPA from the current academic year, from paying tuition fees for continuing their studies in that cycle.

Regular students paying tuition fees from the same study program and academic year who meet these prescribed conditions will be ranked according to their achieved GPA as of the last day of the academic year, i.e., 30.09. The top 20% ranked on the list will be entitled to tuition fee exemption for continuing their studies in that cycle.

In case the number of candidates on the ranking list is equal to or less than 5, the first person on the list is exempted. If the number of students on the list is between 6 and 10, the first two candidates on the list are exempted.

If 20% is not a whole number, the number of students exempted from payment is rounded up to the next whole number. If there are multiple study programs, exemption is applied to each study program according to the previously established principle, with the top 20% of students who meet the defined criteria from each year being exempted.

The University of Sarajevo is obliged, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance of Sarajevo Canton, to refund any tuition fees paid by students who fall within the top 20% upon their enrollment in the next academic year in 2024/2025, each within their jurisdiction.

The Rector and Senate of the University of Sarajevo are tasked with submitting an accurate list of students who meet the above-mentioned conditions, along with the relevant decisions for refunding funds, to the Ministry of Finance of Sarajevo Canton within seven days of the adoption of this decision," the adopted Decision states.
