KS Assembly to dismiss Adna Mesihović today and appoint new Minister of Higher Education Dušanka Bošković

(Patria) - The Sarajevo Canton Assembly will hold its 25th working session today, after a long break. The KS Assembly met on September 16, but it was a continuation of the 24th working session.

Today's session has 16 agenda items, as well as reports and information.

The KS Assembly is expected to finally dismiss Adna Mesihović from the position of Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Youth of KS today, and appoint Dušanka Bošković as the new minister. Bošković was elected vice-rector for quality during the mandate of rector Tarik Zaimović. She is a full professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Sarajevo.

Given that the saga with this ministry has been ongoing since April following the arrest of Adna Mesihović, who is under investigation for abuse of office and illegal employment in the Ministry, and that the Ministry has been led by Darja Softić-Kadenić, and then Zlatko Mijatović, the Trojka parties have finally agreed on the proposal for a new minister. Numerous projects are pending, as well as payments to recipients of the Golden Badge for doctoral studies. Mesihović decided to take over the mandate of a deputy in the KS Assembly after the founder of ZNG, Damir Marjanović, withdrew from the KS Assembly following the arrest of cadres from his party.

The KS Assembly will consider two proposals for additional borrowing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the implementation of road reconstruction projects in KS.

Deputies will consider the Decision on accepting additional borrowing under Loan Agreement No. 1 amending the Loan Agreement of February 1, 2023, between BiH and the EBRD for the "Ilidža – Hrasnica Tram Line" project.

On the agenda is also the Proposal for a decision on accepting additional borrowing under Loan Agreement No. 1 amending the Loan Agreement of April 12, 2022, between BiH and the EBRD for the implementation of the "Sarajevo Public Transport e-Mobility" project.

It is also planned to vote on the Proposal for a decision on accepting borrowing under the Loan Agreement between BiH and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) for the "Air Quality Improvement" Project.

On the agenda is also the Proposal for a Law on supplementary payment of funds to beneficiaries of subsidies under the public call for subsidizing the resolution of housing issues for young people for 2023, under an expedited procedure. Only after the Law is adopted will the Ministry issue a special instruction with the criteria that applicants must meet to receive the subsidy difference. We remind you that in January 2024, young people received KM 4,816 each, and they should receive approximately another KM 5,000 each. However, the first condition is to prove that the property is still in their ownership.

Amendments and additions to the Law on Real Estate Transfer Tax and Inheritance and Gift Tax, the Proposal for a decision on the establishment and statute of the KS Cinematography Fund, the Proposal for a Youth Strategy of KS for the period 2024-2030, and the Proposal for a decision on amending the Decision on appointing members of the KS Council of National Minorities will also be considered.

Furthermore, the Proposal for a decision on giving consent to the Program of Work with the Financial Plan of the KS Fund for Stipends and Education of Children of Veterans, Fallen Veterans, and Fallen Civilian Victims of War "IKRE" for 2025 will be considered.

An opinion is also expected on the Proposal for a decision on giving consent to the KS Construction Institute and the KS Ministry of Transport to conclude a Purchase Agreement for a temporary facility for demolition, located at Harisa Merzića Street No. 38, in accordance with the Decision on adopting the Resettlement Plan for the implementation of the Ilidža-Hrasnica tram line construction project, it was announced from the KS Protocol and Press Service.
