KS Assembly on March 6 regarding the dismissal of the Sarajevo Canton Government

(Patria) - The Collegium of the KS Assembly determined at today's session the date of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly session for March 6, which will consider the resignation of Prime Minister Nihad Uk, or the dismissal of the current Sarajevo Canton Government. This is a regular session, and there are other items planned on the agenda besides the dismissal of the Government.

We remind you that Uk submitted his resignation on February 15, and the following day he submitted a written resignation to the Speaker of the KS Assembly. The Election and Appointment Commission accepted the resignation, and now, according to the procedure, the date of the session has been set.

Nihad Uk's resignation surprised the ministers from SDP and Narod i Pravda, as he had not announced it. Uk stated that it was his moral decision after the tragic tram accident in which a 23-year-old student Erdoan Morankić from Brčko died, and four people were seriously and lightly injured, after which followed several days of protests by students, pupils, and citizens who demanded accountability for this tragedy.

Conflicting information is coming from the Trojka parties regarding the new Sarajevo Canton Government, while Uk rejects the possibility of remaining in the position with a technical mandate, even if his resignation is accepted.

The Law on the Government of KS stipulates that the new Government is appointed 60 days from the date of dismissal of the previous Government.

What can be heard as a potential solution is the appointment of an expert Government of Sarajevo Canton, which would allegedly be supported by the opposition in the Sarajevo Canton Assembly.
