(Patria) - An extraordinary session of the Senate of the University of Sarajevo (UNSA) has been scheduled for today starting at 1 PM. Rector Rifat Škrijelj's mandate expires today, and he has scheduled the session to inform the Senate members about the decision of the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs, which orders the University to annul the election of the rector and the competition itself.
"This is all unfounded in law and a brazen behavior by the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs, and that is why I have scheduled the Senate session so that, together with the Management Board, we can assess the situation and take a final stance, which we will also communicate to the founder of UNSA and the public," Škrijelj told Patria this morning.
Škrijelj believes this is the most serious attack on the autonomy of UNSA since he has been rector.
The newly elected rector Tarik Zaimović is supposed to take office on October 1, but everything will be clearer after today's session of the Senate of the University of Sarajevo.
