Skenderija: 24th Memorial Tournament Asim Ferhatović-Hase this weekend

Next weekend, December 24th and 25th, the 24th International Memorial Futsal Tournament "Asim Ferhatović Hase" will be held at KSC Skenderija, organized by FK Vratnik and FK Sarajevo, with the support of the Municipality of Stari Grad. A press conference was held today at the Municipality premises to announce the tournament and draw the pairings, reports Patria.

This traditional tournament is played in memory of one of the greatest Bosnian-Herzegovinian footballers of all time – Asim Ferhatović Hase, and numerous football legends of this city attended today's press conference.

The President of the Tournament Organizing Committee is Jusuf Pušina, who today thanked everyone who wants the name of Asim Ferhatović Hase to live on in this region, and to remind us of a great man, humanist, and athlete.

- With his deeds, he transcended the boundaries of our municipality, city, and country, thus inspiring thousands of young people to follow in his footsteps. The motto "There is only one Hase" lives on more than ever today, reminding us of what young people should do, and what we older ones should follow and remember - said Pušina.

- I would like to emphasize that, in addition to awards for the best teams, this tournament also has an award for the best player named "Asim Ferhatović Hase". This player, in addition to reminding us of Asim's game, must also remind us of his behavior, actions, and message. This tournament, precisely because of this message, deserves the greatest attention from the sports public, as well as the wider public in Bosnia and Herzegovina - he added.

The Mayor of the Municipality, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, also emphasized that Asim Ferhatović was characterized by great humanity in addition to his talent, and added that he has been gladly supporting this tournament for nine years.

- I must point out that Hase was, above all, a great man, a humanitarian who helped people a lot, especially in Sarajevo and Stari Grad. I thank everyone who has supported and organized this tournament, so that Hase is not forgotten and that the tournament becomes better year after year in terms of organization - said Hadžibajrić.

The Municipality of Stari Grad is one of the main sponsors of this tournament.

Eight teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Austria will participate in the two-day tournament. Teams Travnik, Olimpik, Slavija, and Željezničar will play in Group A, while Group B will feature the Austrian Selection, Sarajevo, Vratnik, and Mladost. The tournament will be opened on Saturday by Slavija and Željezničar, while the final will be played on Sunday.

Representatives of FK "Sarajevo" and "Željezničar" also addressed those present at today's press conference.

- What the organizers of this tournament are doing reminds me of Bosnian sevdalinka, and representing a football and human giant is no small feat. We are proud to be a part of this tournament, and we will make a special effort to present ourselves in the best possible light on the field as well - said Sejfudin Tica from FK Željezničar.
