Scandal in Poland: Professor forced students to calculate how many refugees they had to throw into the sea

A physics professor at a high school in northern Poland is facing dismissal after giving students a task to calculate how many Syrian refugees they had to throw off a raft into the sea for the raft to reach the coast of Greece, writes TVN24, reported by the Patria News Agency.

-Four refugees from Syria are trying to reach Greece on a raft measuring 1x2mx 20cm. Calculate how many refugees need to be pushed off the raft into the sea for it to reach its destination, if each weighs 60 kilograms, was the task that shocked the students, as well as their parents who immediately reported the man to the school principal.

-The principal spoke with the teacher the same day and informed him that the next such incident would mean dismissal, the deputy principal of the high school told Polish television TVN24.

The professor justified himself by saying that he only wanted to attract the students' attention.

-Before that, they had tasks where they built that raft, so this one somehow logically followed from it. This has nothing to do with any racist approach of mine. I have nothing against refugees, I would gladly see people of different backgrounds in Poland, if they agreed to live here, the professor told TVN24.

The case has eventually attracted national attention, so it is not excluded that the professor will be dismissed.
