Skaka elected through political bargaining of SDA and SDP: Five councillors demonstratively left the session!

Due to political violence in the City Council of Sarajevo, carried out by SDA, unfortunately aided by SDP, all for personal deals and employment of selected individuals, the Independent List for My City councillors club and independent councillor Drago Jurić left today's emergency session of the City Council, according to a statement from the Independent List for My City councillors club, reports the Patria News Agency.

The politicking currently on display, where SDA installed Abdulah Skaka as deputy mayor at all costs and by any means necessary, is unacceptable to us.

The citizens who gave us their trust did not elect us to undermine the dignity of the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to bargain for petty and personal interests.

The Independent List for My City councillors club has shown that it wants to work for the benefit of the citizens and the City of Sarajevo, whose reputation must be urgently restored. To this end, we proposed Haris Fazlagić, a member of the Democratic Front, as a candidate for deputy mayor. We did not consider party affiliation but exclusively the references the candidate possesses.

Our goal was that after 10 months of non-statutory work by the City Council and Administration, for which SDA is again solely to blame, a deputy mayor would finally be elected.

SDA has unfortunately shown that the reputation of the City of Sarajevo is not important to them, and therefore they orchestrated that their candidate for deputy mayor must be elected at an emergency session simultaneously, so that they would support the Decision on Temporary Financing of the City.

The Independent List for My City councillors club calls on the councillors in the City Council of Sarajevo to respect the oath they took upon taking office.

Sarajevo must have a Bosniak deputy mayor, but we will never agree to be part of political games and bargains that benefit certain parties and individuals at the expense of citizens and the City, according to the statement signed by councillors Vedran Dodik, Hasan Hodžić, Edina Latif, Branislava Rakonjac, and Drago Jurić.
