North Korea launched another missile, UN Security Council called an emergency session

The United States confirmed that they recorded the launch of another North Korean medium-range ballistic missile that flew over northern Japan and then fell into the Pacific, world media report, agency Patria carries.

North Korea fired a projectile early on Friday that flew over the Japanese island of Hokkaido and fell into the sea.

- The missile did not pose a threat to North America or the US Pacific territory of Guam – said Dave Benham, spokesperson for the US Pacific Command.

White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders confirmed to US media that President Donald Trump has also been informed of the latest North Korean actions.

- China and Russia must show that they do not tolerate such reckless missile launches by taking direct action themselves – said US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

He added that China supplies North Korea with large quantities of oil and that "Russia is the largest employer of the North Korean workforce".

The UN Security Council announced that it will hold an emergency session today at the request of Japan and the USA.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said that North Korea threatens world peace and emphasized that UN sanctions against North Korea must be firmly imposed.

- Japan "will never tolerate the dangerous provocative actions of North Korea that threaten world peace – Abe said.
