Session of the FBiH Government: Is the Issue of 44 Workers of Konfekcija “Borac” Being Resolved Today?

The Government of the Federation of BiH will, at today's session held in Sarajevo, acting as the Assembly of the Development Bank of FBiH, decide on the proposed allocation of 182,209.32 KM from the funds realized through the sale of companies under the jurisdiction of the Agency for Privatization in FBiH, deposited in the transaction account of the Development Bank of FBiH. These funds would enable the payment of contributions and thus create conditions for the retirement of 44 workers of Konfekcija “Borac” d.d. Travnik. Incidentally, so far, the Government has allocated 6,520,548.50 KM from this fund for the payment of contributions and retirement of a total of 318 employees from several companies.

The Federal Administration for Inspection Affairs will inform the Government about the results of intensified activities aimed at combating the “grey economy,” carried out by mixed inspection teams. From March 20 to July 23, 2017, federal and cantonal inspectors conducted 5,298 inspections across all cantons of the Federation of BiH, issued 3,514 misdemeanor warrants totaling 4,408,924 KM, 508 decisions on remedying deficiencies, and 171 decisions on temporary prohibition of work, and sealed 47 facilities.

The Federal Government will today analyze the information from the Federal Pension and Disability Insurance Institute prepared in response to the request for a 10 percent increase in all pensions. One of the projections given in the information shows that, in that case, the accumulated deficit in 2017 would amount to 262,981,006 KM, the following year it would be 351,902,514 KM, in 2019 it would increase to 454,055,342 KM, and in 2020 it would reach 534,017,652 KM.

It is also stated that the latest amendment to the current Law on Pension and Disability Insurance, which received support from the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH, is completely contrary to the entire concept of pension system reform in FBiH, and that, in the event of its adoption, the Government will consider the possibility of initiating a procedure to verify the method of proposing and adopting the amendments.

Today, a set of recommendations from the Federal Ministry of Health regarding safer work and other activities in conditions of extremely high temperatures will also be considered.
