Sivro: Trade union of primary education supports doctors opposing the dismissal of Dr. Gavrankapetanović

The Cantonal Board in Sarajevo of the Independent Trade Union of Primary Education and Upbringing has supported the doctors of the Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, who have publicly stood by the Head of the Clinic, Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović.

The president of the cantonal trade union, Saudin Sivro, told the Patria agency that the trade union is particularly pleased with the principled stance and determination of the Clinic's doctors who have stood up to protect their dignity and oppose, as he said, "the arbitrariness of individuals who think they can do whatever they want.".

"All those who demand that expertise and democratic procedures be respected, and who oppose the arbitrariness of politically suitable individuals, will always have our support," Sivro said. 

"The situation in the healthcare system of Sarajevo Canton is not being resolved in this way; on the contrary, the situation will be even worse than it is now," Sivro emphasized and called on those responsible at KCUS, the Ministry of Health, and the Government of Sarajevo Canton to support expertise and respect the views of the signatories of the letter of support for Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović.

The management of the Clinical Center in Sarajevo abruptly dismissed Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović from the position of Head of the Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology. This dismissal caused a great reaction among orthopedists throughout the region, as well as around the world, who had the opportunity to collaborate with Dr. Gavrankapetanović.

The decision of the director of KCUS, Dr. Sebija Izetbegović, to dismiss the leading orthopedist in Europe without explanation has been assessed as an ill-considered move, a personal frustration of Dr. Izetbegović, which will harm the largest healthcare institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina, NAP reports.
