(Patria) - President of the Union of Education and Primary Education of Sarajevo Canton Saudin Sivro announced that the Union is preparing for protests, and via social media he called on members and bodies to prepare for possible strikes as well.
He published a table with base salaries for calculating wages at the level of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, cantons, the City of Sarajevo and municipalities, and pointed out that the lowest base salary is in Sarajevo Canton, amounting to 385 KM. The budget of Sarajevo Canton for 2024 amounted to 1.5 billion KM.
"If 16,200 workers in Sarajevo Canton want their base salary increased, they must be aware that they can only achieve this through protests and strikes," Sivro stated.
We remind you that seven unions recently organized protests in front of the building of the Government of Sarajevo Canton, demanding higher wages in line with increased living costs.
The decision of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on a minimum wage of 1,000 KM opened the issue of increasing other wages in both the private and public sectors.
The Union's earlier request for an increase in the base salary was rejected, and the Union proposed that it amount to 425 KM.
