Situation in Sarajevo Canton improving, 33 new coronavirus cases and 49 recovered persons

(Patria) - In the past 24 hours, 33 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sarajevo Canton. In the same period, 49 persons have recovered from Covid-19 infection.

Of this number of newly infected, 24, or 72.72 percent, belong to family clusters or contacts with previously infected persons, which is why they have been in self-isolation since earlier.

Unfortunately, during yesterday, four patients who were infected with this virus died.

In the past day, 339 persons were tested for coronavirus.

Sarajevo Canton today records 839 active cases of Covid-19 infection.

Currently, 3,841 of our fellow citizens are in self-isolation.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 52,051 persons infected with coronavirus have been recorded in Sarajevo Canton, and 49,984 have recovered.

According to data from the Institute for Public Health of Sarajevo Canton, in the past seven days, the average number of infected is 33, while the weekly incidence, i.e., the number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants, is 71.

Currently, 197 patients are hospitalized in Sarajevo Canton, 128 at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, and 69 at the General Hospital "Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš."

Four patients are on ventilators, two each at the Clinical Center and the General Hospital.

At the same time, 25 patients at the Clinical Center and three at the General Hospital are using oxygen support above 15 liters per minute.

In the past 24 hours, seven persons were discharged from hospitalization.

At the Covid clinics of the Public Institution Health Center of Sarajevo Canton, 244 patients were examined, of whom six were transported to the General Hospital and five to the Clinical Center.

At the drive-in testing points, the following number of PCR swabs were taken: 50 at Vrbanja, 22 at Novi Grad, 15 at Semizovac, and nine at Ilidža.

The total number of PCR swabs taken at the points and Covid clinics is 255.

The Covid call center recorded 159 calls, and 124 conversations with patients were conducted via telephone numbers in the Covid clinics.

The Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton and health institutions thank the citizens and continue to ask them to adhere to all prescribed hygiene and epidemiological measures.
