SIPA arrests one person in ongoing investigation against Debevec and Mehmedagić, no comment from BiH Prosecutor's Office

(Patria) - State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) police officers, on 13.02.2024, in continuation of the operational action "Kodeks" in the Sarajevo and East Sarajevo areas, carried out searches of apartments and other premises and movable property at six locations, during which items that could serve as evidence in criminal proceedings were discovered and temporarily confiscated.

One person was deprived of liberty due to the existence of grounds for suspicion of committing the criminal offense of "False Representation" prescribed by the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the criminal offense from Article 29 of the Law on Gender Equality of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The person deprived of liberty was taken to SIPA premises for criminal processing and questioning as a suspect, after which they will be handed over to the further jurisdiction of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina within the legal deadline.

The searches were carried out based on an order from the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with police officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska and the Federal Police Administration.

Activities in the "Kodeks" case are being conducted against the suspended president of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the former director of the Intelligence-Security Agency, as part of an expanded investigation into multiple events with suspicion of corrupt activities and other illegalities.

The BiH Prosecutor's Office stated that searches and seizure of items were carried out at a total of 6 locations in the Sarajevo area.

"Activities are being carried out in the case against the suspects, suspended president of the BiH Court Debevec Ranko and former director of OSA BiH Mehmedagić Osman, as part of an expanded investigation into multiple events with suspicion of corrupt activities and other illegalities. The BiH Prosecutor's Office, within the legal deadline, has submitted a proposal to extend the detention of the two suspects for another 30 days, in order to fully implement all necessary activities, for the purpose of making a prosecutorial decision in the case. In order to protect the investigation, we cannot provide more details or information at this time," stated the BiH Prosecutor's Office.
