(Patria) - Police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) yesterday, as part of the ongoing operational action "Zip", arrested one person in the area of Kladanj, who was taken to SIPA premises, where criminal processing and questioning as a suspect were carried out.
“The person was deprived of liberty by order of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed the criminal offenses of ‘Organized Crime’ in connection with the criminal offenses of ‘Human Smuggling’, ‘Organizing a group or association for the commission of the criminal offense of migrant smuggling’ prescribed by the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” stated SIPA.
The acting prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina will determine the further status of the arrested person within the legal deadline.
As a reminder, on 06.02.2024, SIPA police officers carried out the operational action "Zip", during which nine people were arrested. This action was the result of a multi-month investigation conducted in cooperation with police officers of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Croatia, with the support of Europol, when the smuggling of about 70 citizens of the Republic of Turkey from Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Republic of Croatia, and further to the countries of the European Union, was documented. The smuggling was carried out by transporting people hidden in trucks from the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the territory of the Republic of Croatia.
