SIPA can attack Maoča, but cannot defend the Presidency

The Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies in BiH, whose resigned director Himzo Selimović stated that it cannot guarantee the security of state institutions, also has in its jurisdiction the security of all foreign embassies and international organizations in BiH, according to the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP)!

And, after the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) also publicly announced yesterday that it is not trained and equipped to suppress demonstrations and riots, the question arises whether international officials can be safe in BiH and what if violent demonstrations are directed towards a diplomatic seat.

It is known that international donors and friendly countries have invested heavily in establishing state law enforcement agencies.

At the same time, SIPA has shown exceptional readiness to conduct complex anti-terrorist operations such as the one in Gornja Maoča, while BiH law enforcement agencies cannot guarantee the security of BiH institutions or international organizations.

To our question of how it is possible that SIPA and its special forces are not trained to protect the Presidency of BiH, the state flag and the state Archives from several dozen hooligans, but are trained for anti-terrorist operations, SIPA explains that this is not their jurisdiction. SIPA spokesperson Kristina Jozić says that the operation "Light" which was led by the FUP, with SIPA only participating, "cannot be brought into the context of suppressing riots."

- Just as we stated in the official announcement, according to the current legal regulations, ensuring public order and peace in the territory of BiH is exclusively within the jurisdiction of entity and cantonal MUP-ov, i.e., the Brčko District Police, for which the mentioned police bodies have specially trained personnel, including material-technical means and specialized vehicles intended for suppressing riots and crowd control - states Jozić.
