Unions oppose layoffs of 213 miners in Đurđevik

In the mines operating within the concern of Elektroprivreda BiH, systematization and job organization should be carried out in the coming period.

In the Đurđevik Mine, this issue has already caused unrest, as around 213 workers could become technologically redundant.

Representatives of the Union Organizations of the Đurđevik Mine oppose the proposed systematization plan, stating that they will not allow the destruction of the Mine in this manner, says Suad Šehić, president of the Independent Union Organization of RMU Đurđevik.

The union organizations in this Mine supported the creation of a new systematization, but in a way that the reduction of employees would be carried out exclusively through retirement, said Suad Nuhić, president of the Workers' Union of RMU „Đurđevik“.

The union emphasizes that those who planned to declare 213 workers redundant have not foreseen any support program for them.

The names of the workers who could be declared technologically redundant are not yet known, says Nuhić, but he reveals that the first on the list are workers from the production process.

Those who try to implement systematization contrary to the Law will face lawsuits from the Union Organizations, the unions announced.
