(Patria) - The Trade Union of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) most strongly rejects and denies the statement by MP Nihad Omerović (NIP) made at today's session of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, according to which "80% of the text of the amendments to the Law on Police Officers of BiH has been agreed upon with the trade unions".
"This claim is untrue and represents a conscious deception of the public. Throughout the entire process, the SIPA BiH Trade Union has consistently expressed serious dissatisfaction and clear and unambiguous opposition to the proposed solutions, and the key remarks and demands pointed out by the Trade Union have not been taken into account.
According to the information available to the SIPA Trade Union, the initiators of the law have not reached an agreement with any trade union operating within the Union of Trade Unions of Police Bodies of BiH. Despite this, Mr. Omerović, with his statements, tried to create a false impression of broad support and thereby undermine unity, common approach, and solidarity among trade unions on this issue. We consider such behavior unacceptable and harmful to the integrity of the entire process," the SIPA Trade Union announced.
They further state that they will not allow the name of the Trade Union to be used to conceal uncoordinated and potentially harmful solutions that directly endanger the rights and position of police officers.
"We demand utmost responsibility from all initiators and competent institutions, accurate public information, and an immediate halt to the manipulative representation of the consultation process.
Our position remains clear: this draft law is not the result of an agreement with the SIPA Trade Union, nor does it have our support. We want to thank all the representatives in the House of Representatives who listened to the trade union representatives and rejected the proposal to decide on such an important law under an urgent procedure.
The Trade Union will continue to represent the interests of police officers and protect the unity of trade union action. We are ready in the coming period, together with all other Trade Unions and government representatives, to work on finding the best solution that will be in favor of strengthening security in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and on the other hand, protect the interests of all police officers," they conclude in their reaction.
