(Patria) - The Management Board of the Independent Union of Civil Servants and Employees of Sarajevo Canton discussed at a meeting held on January 10 all activities undertaken so far regarding the increase of the base salary for budget users in all branches in Sarajevo Canton and made several conclusions regarding further activities.
Negotiations with the Government of Sarajevo Canton began on time, but unfortunately, they failed due to the Government's unserious approach.
The unions in the Coordination of seven unions of budget users failed to reach an agreement with the Government, and it was emphasized that the Government of Sarajevo Canton did not take the social dialogue process seriously, which led to protests in front of the Sarajevo Canton Government building, where the Independent Union of Civil Servants and Employees of Sarajevo Canton played a key role as the organizer.
Furthermore, a procedure for organizing and holding meetings with the parliamentary groups participating in the work of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly was initiated, during which key information was exchanged.
It was emphasized that from January 1, 2025, the base salary for calculating salaries in Sarajevo Canton will be the lowest in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is unacceptable for a canton that should be an example to others.
The Government of Sarajevo Canton has never considered the possibility of paying assistance according to the Decree of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which further demonstrates the unseriousness in conducting social dialogue.
After the decision on the amount of the minimum wage of 1,000 KM, it became clear that the base salary in Sarajevo Canton must be increased.
An additional problem in the civil service is the situation where workers with lower qualifications have reached salaries of referents with secondary education, and due to the postponement of necessary amendments to the Law on Salaries in Government Bodies of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the only way to create a fair difference in salaries is to increase the base salary.
Due to all of the above and serious problems that could further jeopardize the position of civil servants and employees, several conclusions were made.
The Management Board of the Union instructs the President of the Union to immediately request a meeting of the Coordination of Unions of Sarajevo Canton to convey all the problems facing the civil service, and to request the adoption of a Decision on organizing protests in front of the Sarajevo Canton Government building, as well as preparations for a warning strike due to the sluggishness and ignorant behavior of the Sarajevo Canton Government towards the employees.
Members of the Management Board are tasked with holding meetings of union boards and taking a stance on initiating activities for organizing a warning strike, as well as surveying the membership in accordance with applicable regulations.
Each member of the Union is responsible for implementing all the aforementioned conclusions, because only together can we achieve our set goals", the Management Board of the Independent Union of Civil Servants and Employees of Sarajevo Canton announced.
