Union to decide on further struggle methods today, KS Government refuses dialogue and demands strike termination

(Patria) - It is the third day of the strike in primary schools in Sarajevo Canton, and students are missing the first two classes in the first shift, second shift, and inter-shift.

The KS Government and the relevant Ministry of Education and Science, headed by Naida Hota Muminović, claim that the strike is illegal, and the KS Legal Affairs Directorate has asked the competent court to declare the strike illegal and terminate it.

The president of the Independent Union of Primary Education and Upbringing of KS, Saudin Sivro, announced at a press conference held on Wednesday that they will assess the situation on Friday and make new decisions regarding the strike. He reminded that the KS Government received notice of this strike on March 18, recalling that they abandoned the mass strike on February 14, but that the Union's demands have not been met. In addition to salary increases, the Union demanded that pedagogical standards not be adopted, especially not without the Union's consultation. Pedagogical standards have been adopted, which prompted the Union to initiate the strike.

"The Union Assembly will make decisions on further methods of union struggle. It is certain that the struggle will not be abandoned, but that the fact that the KS Government refuses social dialogue will be taken into account when making decisions, that it talks about salaries and does not talk about the Union's four demands, which is the goal of every strike. The fact that students are suffering because of the KS Government will be especially taken into account, which is a shame and a disgrace of the KS Government, not the workers and the Union.

Whether the students will return to school desks at full capacity on Monday will be known on Friday evening, but one thing is certain - workers will take to the streets of Sarajevo in May and June. The struggle will certainly move to the streets of Sarajevo as well. Let the whole world see what kind of government is in Sarajevo Canton," said the Union president Saudin Sivro.
