Bosnalijek Union: We Will Persist in the Fight to Preserve Our Jobs

In connection with the investigative actions being carried out in the company Bosnalijek, the union of this company has issued a statement.

"We want to express unequivocal support for the investigation of all potential irregularities. Our primary interest is concern for the security of jobs and the livelihoods of more than 800 workers in our company. Therefore, in this way, we want to clearly state that as a union, we expect from all those involved in the current events to bear in mind that the smooth operation of Bosnalijek must be ensured and any potential harmful consequences for the company and our jobs must be prevented.

The workers of Bosnalijek must not be victims of anyone's investigative actions, and we state that as a union we will persist in the fight to preserve our jobs.

We in the union believe that Bosnalijek, in the conditions of the pandemic that still prevails, is of particular strategic interest for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This was especially confirmed during last year's border blockade and the ban on the export of medicines from numerous world countries, when we, the workers of Bosnalijek, working without any interruptions, ensured the regular supply of the domestic market with all essential medicines and disinfectants that we produce. All workers of Bosnalijek are aware of their role when it comes to the safe supply of the market, and we believe that it is in everyone's interest that such a position of the company is not jeopardized", they state in the announcement.

We remind you that the director of the company Bosnalijek, Nedim Uzunović, was arrested. He was first brought to the premises of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) yesterday, and today he was questioned at the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.

Uzunović was heard today at the Prosecutor's Office of BiH regarding the investigation in the case "Bosnalijek". A decision by the Prosecutor's Office on the request for a possible detention order is currently expected, which will be known within the next 24 hours.

In addition to Uzunović, one other person has been deprived of liberty, and five more people have received summons for questioning.
