Sidran's gratitude to Doctor Gavrankapetanović

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Renowned BiH writer Abdulah Sidran was treated at the General Hospital in Sarajevo at the end of last year, where he fought against COVID-19 infection.

The recovery of our famous academician is on the right track, and today he warmed hearts across this country when, in a video posted on social media, he sent an emotional message to Doctor Ismet Gavrankapetanović.

"I have an obligation," the writer begins in a quiet voice in the recording. "It is my agreement with the brilliant, wonderful, incredible, my comrade, friend, Doctor Ismet Gavrankapetanović."

"I promised him," he says, his voice gaining strength, "that the first time I leave the house and go into a public space, I will wave to him, I will hug him, I will kiss him, that my love, my joy, be conveyed to his wonderful colleagues..."

"And there are many of them, doctors, nurses... brothers and sisters with whom I lived for two months in their home, at the General Hospital."

"My brother, my son, all of mine... dear Doctor Ismet Gavrankapetanović. Live long, my brother."

Sidran was admitted to the General Hospital in Sarajevo on December 7, 2020, after falling ill with coronavirus. He left the General Hospital on January 8, 2021.

And today, we learn that Sidran managed to have his first coffee outside his home after leaving the hospital.
