Scholz: Germany will not have red lines against the pandemic, the chancellor is also for the unvaccinated

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The new federal government wants to act flexibly in the fight against the corona pandemic. According to Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, there will be no "red lines".

Chancellor Olaf Scholz does not want to rule out any measures in the fight against the coronavirus. "There must be no 'red lines', this pandemic has truly shown us that. We must always be prepared to reconsider our course if circumstances require it. Then we must act quickly and decisively," he told the newspaper "Bild am Sonntag".

The SPD politician does not categorically rule out a lockdown during the Christmas holidays in Germany either. Responding to a question, he said: "The federal government and the states have just taken very stringent measures. We will check daily how they are being implemented and whether they are sufficient."

The new Omicron variant of the virus is causing concern above all. Experts expect the virus to spread rapidly in Germany and - like politicians - are calling for vaccination and booster vaccination.

However, when it comes to vaccination, there is still a part of society that rejects the vaccine - for various reasons. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), 69.5 percent of the total population is fully vaccinated against the virus. 18.7 million people (22.5 percent) have received a booster shot.

Nevertheless, the chancellor does not believe that Germany is divided into vaccinated and unvaccinated people. "The vast majority of citizens have been vaccinated. Many want to do so soon because they have overcome their concerns," he said. Olaf Scholz wants a united Germany and said he is "the chancellor of the unvaccinated too".

Different opinions do not immediately mean a division of society, Scholz added. "We can also argue. I am convinced that the majority of the unvaccinated, like me, find these torchlight marches disgusting," said the chancellor. A few days ago, opponents of corona policy marched with torches in front of the house of Saxon Minister of Health Petra Köpping (SPD).
