Six-year-old Ismail Zulfić: One day he too will be a Mostar swallow

At the invitation of Mostar legend and longtime diver Lorens Lista, today's 451st jumps from the Old Bridge are also attended by six-year-old Ismail Zulfić with his parents and swimming coach and founder of PK Spid, Amel Kapa. Although he is only six years old, Ismail has already won a gold medal at a competition in Zagreb at the beginning of May this year in the 50-meter backstroke category, reports the Patria agency.

Looking at the arch of the Old Bridge, Ismail told his coach Amel that he would also jump and do a somersault if he caught him in the water.

- Ismail is excited. People recognize him, greet him. He put on a real show - says the proud coach.

The will to live that this boy, born without arms, shows is indescribable. With the support of his parents Ismet and Elmina, Ismail has mastered not only swimming but also skiing. Although they live in Zenica, twice a week his parents bring Ismail to training at the Olympic Pool Otoka.

Swimming Club Spid is the only club in Bosnia and Herzegovina that works with both typical children and people with disabilities. Although it has support from a few sponsors, it is certain that the city authorities could do more for this noble young man, who does not charge training fees for children with disabilities. More than 50 children from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina, thanks to coach Kapa and his assistants, have mastered swimming despite their disabilities.
