Sixth Youth Strategy: Youth Remain a Priority for the Municipality of Ilidža

(Patria) - Mayor of Ilidža Municipality Nermin Muzur and Director General of the Institute for Youth Development KULT Jasmin Bešić signed a Cooperation Agreement on the development of the Youth Strategy in the municipality of Ilidža for the period 2025 - 2029. The fact that youth are a priority for the Municipality of Ilidža is also confirmed by Mayor Muzur's words.

- For years, in cooperation with KULT, we have been trying to improve the area of youth. Part of that cooperation is reflected in the agreement by which we are working to improve the position of youth in the municipality of Ilidža. What makes us particularly happy is that the Municipality of Ilidža is the local community that was the first to adopt a youth strategy and had the first official youth officer. The greatest reward, the greatest satisfaction, and what makes us particularly happy is implementing the measures defined by the strategy. We are improving public calls, increasing funds for youth, and supporting as many projects as possible, so that Ilidža has the highest quality content and programs for youth - said Mayor Muzur.

The Municipality of Ilidža's favour as a local community towards youth has also been recognized by the Institute for Youth Development KULT, with whom the Municipality is already successfully cooperating. The Director of the Institute for Youth Development KULT, Jasmin Bešić, explained why the Municipality of Ilidža stands out among local communities.

- The Municipality of Ilidža has always had a youth strategy, even before it was a legal obligation. The Municipality of Ilidža is also very special in that strategies do not remain mere dead letters on paper; funds are allocated in the Budget for their implementation, serious monitoring is done of what has been achieved, and most importantly, the strategy is developed in accordance with research on the problems and needs of youth - said Director Bešić.

The Municipality of Ilidža, as the community where the Institute is headquartered, actively participates in the implementation of a number of initiatives and activities aimed at youth. The Municipality and the Institute are working on implementing the local youth strategy, jointly supporting the work of the local youth center, and a number of other initiatives that support a better position for youth.

- Precisely at today's meeting, we took the opportunity to discuss other topics as well, about future significant projects, so the Municipality of Ilidža, with the Institute, will continue to work on improving the position of youth within social projects and infrastructure projects - emphasized Bešić, and highlighted that the implementation of the Youth Strategy is an extremely important document that addresses the needs of youth.

The lives of young people take place in the local community, and with this document, the Municipality of Ilidža expresses its commitment to youth and places them in the focus of community development, recognizing their needs, problems, and qualities.

- We have dedicated and continue to dedicate a lot of attention to youth, and that will certainly remain our orientation and commitment. We have shown this by adopting the decision on the largest scholarships for young people, by rewarding the most successful, both in education and science, and in culture and sports. We will certainly continue to do so in the coming period. I must thank the Institute for Youth Development KULT, which is certainly the best partner when it comes to young people. I believe that in the end, we will have a good strategy, and I am convinced that young people will be even more satisfied and that we will have an even higher percentage of young people who want to continue their lives in our local community - added Mayor Muzur.

What follows is research into the needs and problems of youth, based on which goals and measures will be defined to be included in the strategic document and which will do everything to ensure that youth are recognized, and that this document and the measures foreseen by it are beneficial to youth and the entire society.
