Six years since the death of Velež legend Nenad Ćeća Bijedić

On this day six years ago, Nenad Ćeća Bijedić, former Velež footballer and Mostar legend, passed away in Mostar, reports the Patria agency.

Popular Ćeća was born in Mostar in 1959 and as a footballer he came up through the ranks at his Velež. He remained in the hearts of fans for his phenomenal performance in the final of the Marshal Tito Cup against Dinamo, where his goals greatly contributed to the trophy ending up in the club's showcases for the second time.

After Velež, his football career as a player took him to Bursaspor, where he played until 1991. After his playing career, he dedicated himself to coaching. In his first coaching season, he reached the Intertoto Cup.

He coached Bursaspor for six years, and at one time was the coach of Dyarbakirspor, Sakaryaspor, Eskisehirspor and Ankaraspor. It was in Bursa that he enjoyed the status of a true club legend due to his contributions as a player and later as a coach.

He was also the first coach to launch Elvir Baljić onto the Turkish football scene when he was still a “beardless” kid, who would later wear the jerseys of Galatasaray and Real Madrid after Bursa.

He was always with his Rođeni, regardless of whether he was living in Turkey or Mostar at the time.
