Šepić: Healthcare in BiH must not be a puppet of private politics

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Medical Chamber of Sarajevo Canton today at the Chamber Assembly elects a new president. Candidates are Prof. Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zaim Jatić. The Independent Bloc, as a political project advocating for the rights of the capable and placing them above the compliant, believes that in such situations and elections, politics must not be involved. 

''The Independent Bloc will always support capable people in all spheres of life and action because we will always place the aspect of capability above compliance, which is especially important for healthcare. The right to health is a fundamental human right and it must not be under the influence of politics, nor should politics influence the quality of healthcare services for our citizens.

People's lives are not something that politics should play with, and medicine must not be a puppet of politics. The Independent Bloc will advocate for and support medicine based on knowledge and expertise, not on the compliance of certain centers of power and individuals. In this sense, we support the election of a responsible and quality doctor – a proven expert in the country and abroad – to lead the Medical Chamber of Sarajevo Canton, regardless of his name or origin.

We believe that the only right way is for doctors who are removed from direct politics and who will direct their positive energy exclusively to the benefit of patients and the medical profession to be elected to such a position by secret ballot. For this reason, we support the election of the best and believe in the election of doctors who are not political puppets and who build their careers based on expertise'', said Senad Šepić, candidate for member of the BiH Presidency and president of the Independent Bloc.
