Šepić: Mostar must not become Čović's 'see city', this must be a joint goal of both the BH Bloc and SDA

(Patria) - The election of the Mayor of Mostar is the most important political issue these days, especially ahead of tomorrow's continuation of the City Council session. The current situation was also commented on by Senad Šepić, president of the Independent Bloc, who called on the Coalition gathered around the SDA and the BH Bloc to set aside their differences and media squabbles, and to sit down together and agree on the selection of a joint candidate for mayor, because they have the responsibility and the capacity to do so. Otherwise, they will be responsible for the renewed surrender and sale of Mostar to the politics of Dragan Čović, who wants to turn this city into a 'see city' of only one people. “As for the election of the mayor in Mostar, whether the vote is public or secret, I am convinced that the most important thing for this country at this moment is that the new mayor is not from the HDZ of Dragan Čović. That should be the goal of both the Coalition for Mostar and the BH Bloc - Mostar must not be a Croatian see city. Period. Everything else is less important and may carry mistakes and dangers, but for the state, this is the best path for the future. Here, the SDA has the greatest responsibility, and Herzegovina knows that. The BH Bloc, on the other hand, must not be exclusive.

Otherwise, no matter how loudly both sides try to explain that their candidate has the right to be supported by the other group, and the result of the lack of agreement is the re-election of Čović's mayor, both the BH Bloc and the Coalition around the SDA will be remembered as policies primarily responsible for not breaking, although they could have, this negative trend and for once again surrendering and selling out Mostar, which they otherwise swear by. This would certainly mark them and cause them to lose the trust and support of the people of Mostar in the long term, opening space for other political projects for this city, and more broadly in BiH.” - Šepić wrote on his official FB profile.
