Senad Softić new Governor of the Central Bank of BiH

The newly appointed Governing Board of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBiH) has elected Dr. Senad Softić as Governor of the CBBiH for a six-year term, the Central Bank of BiH announced, as reported by the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Dr. Senad Softić was elected at a session of the CBBiH Governing Board on Tuesday, 11 August 2015, at which the newly appointed members of the CBBiH Governing Board, Dr. Senad Softić, Dr. Kemal Kozarić, Mr. Ankica Kolobarić, Dr. Ljubiša Vladušić and Mr. Trivo Marinković, officially assumed their duties.

Dr. Senad Softić succeeded Dr. Kemal Kozarić as Governor of the CBBiH, whose term expired on 11 August 2015. The newly appointed Governor, who also serves as Chairman of the CBBiH Governing Board, holds a doctorate in economics and is employed at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Sarajevo, with the title of associate professor. He is also the head of the Master's programme of the Faculty of Economics Sarajevo and the Faculty of Economics Zagreb, specialising in Crisis Management.

Within his professional career, he served as Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Investment Bank, later the Development Bank of the Federation of BiH. In his long-standing consulting practice, he participated as author, co-author or project leader in the implementation of more than 120 studies, projects and analyses in various fields of micro and macroeconomics (management, finance, banking, strategies, organisation, development). Within his academic career, he participated as author or co-author in the publication of 13 books and monographs. Also, as author or co-author, he published around 30 scientific and professional papers in proceedings, journals and other publications, as well as at seminars and symposia.

Dr. Kemal Kozarić served as Governor for two consecutive terms from 2005, when he succeeded the then Governor Peter Nicholl, and prior to that he served as Vice-Governor of the CBBiH.
