Semir Kerla is the new player of Željezničar

Semir Kerla is the new player of FK Željezničar. The twenty-nine-year-old defender will thus play for the third time in his career in the jersey of the team with which he won the BiH championship title three times and the BiH Cup once.

He returns to Grbavica after spending the past three years in Lithuania and Kazakhstan, where he played for Žalgiris Vilnius and Irtysh Pavlodar. Negotiations lasted for a longer period, and the final agreement was reached this morning, after talks with the President of the Supervisory Board, Senad Misimović.

– I am very glad to be back in the Željezničar jersey. There is obviously a special connection between me and this club, because it is incredible that for the third time I have the opportunity to play at Grbavica, and we all know how many things need to align for something like that. I know the team quite well and I will try to integrate into the system quickly. I want to thank God first of all for everything ending so well, and a big thank you to the people from the Club, who were maximally professional, especially Mr. Senad Misimović – said Semir Kerla.

Kerla signed a contract until the end of the season with an option to extend for another year. He has already received a training plan from coach Slavko Petrović and will train independently until the team returns from preparations in Turkey.

Kerla was born on September 29, 1987, in Rogatica. He went through the youth selections of Radnik from Hadžići, then arrived at Grbavica, and made his debut on April 2, 2008, in the match Željezničar – Laktaši. In January 2011, he went to Greek Panserraikos. After half a year, he moved to Žilina, and then returned to Željo again. He played in the Blue jersey for the next two years, and in the summer of 2014, he went to Žalgiris. In the last year, he played for Kazakhstan's Irtysh.

Kerla played 105 games in the jersey of the most trophy-winning BiH club, and won three BiH championship titles and one Cup. He played 24 games for Irtysh and scored three goals. He appeared 42 times for Žalgiris and scored five goals.
