Village gave up asphalt to secure a home for a mother with four children

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Residents of the Herzegovinian village of Hrgud near Berkovići, close to Stolac, have given up 10,000 KM from the municipal budget that were planned for asphalting roads in their village in order to help a single mother with four children secure a roof over her head and permanently resolve her housing issue.

This concerns the family of Rodoljub Muratović from Berkovići, originally from the village of Hrgud, who died from complications caused by the coronavirus.

As his family was left without a resolved housing situation, compassionate fellow citizens decided to help and launched an initiative to provide them with a roof over their heads.

To make the initiative, which was published on the official website of the Berkovići Municipality, as fruitful as possible, the residents of Hrgud gave up municipal funds that were planned for asphalting roads in that village, which was confirmed by the mayor of Berkovići, Nenad Abramović.

Through the initiative launched in Berkovići, as he stated, additional funds are planned to be raised in order to help the five-member family, who lost their breadwinner, as soon and as adequately as possible.

"We are a small place, everyone knows everyone. Misfortune does not discriminate. Let us not allow them to be left to themselves, let us show humanity and compassion. We know that what we are doing is the beginning of solving the problem. The local community will strive to find a permanent solution," reads the official website of the Berkovići Municipality.
