Selmir Mašetović Speaks Out and Thanks Everyone for Their Support

Selmir Mašetović, a young man from Bosnia and Herzegovina studying in Turkey, posted on Facebook after being released from custody.

He thanked everyone who supported him after his arrest on charges of being a member of the FETO organization, which Turkish authorities consider a terrorist group.

On his Facebook profile, he quoted the first president of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alija Izetbegović, specifically his sentence: "And what we call Bosnia is not just a piece of land in the Balkans."

- I deliberately wanted to start with this sentence because, thanks to all of you, we have proven together that Bosnia is indeed not just a piece of land, as our first president of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the late Alija Izetbegović, stated. Because if it weren't for you, perhaps today I would not be able to write this status - Mašetović wrote on Facebook.

He is grateful to everyone who provided support to him and his family.

- In addition, I want to thank the esteemed Began Muhić, the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Turkey, and my lawyer Suleyha for their quick reaction, expedited process, and support. To all good people, relatives, the group "Justice for Selmir", and people who took their time and attended the protests in the square of my hometown Gradačac. Thank you all very much.

There were no problems in prison; I was surrounded by educated people, professors, journalists, and hodžas. I was calm the whole time; my conscience was clear. I know that everything happens by Allah's will and permission, that Allah will not give anyone more than they can bear, so I knew that my prayers would be answered sooner or later - Mašetović wrote.

He added that he is glad to be free for the last days of Ramadan and that he will welcome the great holiday of Eid in freedom with his friends, even if he cannot be with his family.

- Therefore, on this occasion, I want to wish you a blessed Eid, much joy during the Eid days. We have one battle won, and we will win the second, God willing. I am proud to be a Bosniak. Thank you all once again - Mašetović wrote.
