Selman's advancement: A man with a mortgage of financial scandals takes the helm of the Development Bank

If Salko Selman (SDA) is appointed to the head of the Development Bank of the Federation of BiH, I will file a criminal report against both Selman and the Supervisory Board that appoints him. Because, according to the laws of our country, Selman cannot be appointed to that position at this moment, said Fuad Kasumović, also a member of the Party of Democratic Action, for the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

There are several reasons why Selman, Kasumović explains, cannot be at the head of the Development Bank of FBiH, and one of them is that Selman currently holds high political functions in the SDA, the Assembly of the Central Bosnia Canton, and the Federation of BiH, which, according to Article 18 of the Law on the Development Bank of FBiH, is impermissible for the future director of this bank.

- As far as I know, Selman holds five important political functions, and perhaps more – warns Kasumović.

Selman is the Vice President of the SDA, in addition to being the President of the Party's Personnel Commission, a member of the innermost collegium, a member of the Main Board, and the head of the SDA Cantonal Board in the Central Bosnia Canton...

Also, Selman is a delegate in the Assembly of the Central Bosnia Canton and a delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliament of FBiH. In the last General Elections, Selman was elected as a deputy in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of BiH.

Analysts warn that placing Selman at the head of the Development Bank, besides being a violation of the Law on the Development Bank of FBiH at this moment, would also be very risky for its operations, because he has previously been linked to financial malversations that he carried out or attempted to carry out with companies of which he is the founder.

For example, the media previously reported that after the floods that hit BiH in May this year, Selman tried to collect 37,000 KM from the state for damages allegedly caused by the Lašva River to his property in Travnik. However, experts later determined that the damage to his property amounted to barely 2,000 KM.

- The President of the Supervisory Board, Aid Berbić, stated that Selman submitted a document in which he says he holds no political function. If he really submitted that document, which had to be certified by the municipality and a notary, and it had to be, because that was a condition for applying for the position of director of the Development Bank, then he presented himself falsely, and that is a criminal offense – said Kasumović.

The fact that Selman will fictitiously renounce his political positions, says Kasumović, is not enough.
